Where does inspiration come from? Places? People? Objects?
All of the above?
Everyone finds inspiration from different places.
Can you rely on inspiration to create?
John Cleese very famously said, creativity is a skill like any other, that must be exercised. Sure, some people are more ‘creative’ naturally than others, however that could be said for anything, and shouldn’t be the reason for limitation.
There are people who can naturally run 21km without any training and be okay, and there are others who have to work at it but that doesn’t mean they can’t achieve it.
Creativity is the same, it has to be worked.
Especially for those of us who intend to make a living from it, it has to be a disciplined practice.
Inspiration does a great deal of help to make that practise consistent but that does not mean one must wait to have inspiration ‘come to them’ or ‘thrust upon them’, one must seek it out.
My inspiration more often than not comes from music - one of my all time favourite art forms. Listening to certain music is a very visceral experience for me, and it generates its own imagery which I can then interpret into my own creativity.
Music inspired the concept for my last musical ‘Requiem for the Damned’ and music, once again, has sparked the seed for another original musical concept that Haus mirage has begun work on.
Go out and look for inspiration and you are sure to find it.
Stay tuned for our next big adventure - maybe you’ll get to be a part of making it a reality.
Here at Haus Mirage,
You can unleash your imagination.
